Contradictions exist in every walk of life, though they have always been there around us and within us, they still amaze you every once in a while, when they hit with some incident around you. Today I heard executives of two leading and competing organization trying to come up with an anti-poaching agreement, and not to hire each other’s employees. Basically organization A has hired from organization B and wiped off one of their divisions and vice-versa, which basically meant that after spending tons of money and effort on recruitment, both the organizations just swapped employees and were more or less at the same place after months of movements. Anti-poaching agreements between various airlines for pilots had been in news for sometime now.
At the same time you see the unemployment figures and you wonder why these contradictions exist. On one hand, there are these organizations fighting for resources and spending their money and energy to create professionals by training them, almost like alchemists and on other hand there are so many that need work and are not able to find it. This may sound a very obvious observation, and there may be hundreds of examples of how people / organizations / governments are trying to bridge this gap. But to me it sounds like a gap that unemployed people need to understand and align themselves in such a way that they can fit into the available jobs. And it today’s era where the opportunities are enough, may be these people need to understand how they can employ themselves. Can there be a platform where people can be enabled to employ themselves? I am assuming employment exchanges were setup with the same objective, but I am not sure how effective they are. The job sites may sound like an answer, but the current data shows that they just help finding jobs for the people who are already employed.
